Diagnosed with Epididymitis!

I was wondering if someone could help me understand this some more. I know they say you can get it other ways then sex but my timing just don't make sense..  I had protected sex no oral sex just protected vaginal sex.. 10 days later started to get pelvic and groin pain.. my left testicle is huge with a knot in it with a lot of pain.. So I went to ER than did an ultrasound and told me I have Epididymitis. Only way I think I could have got this is from my 1 time encounter protected sex..  does this have to be from chlamydia or could it have came from something else?? Than didn't run test they just treated me.. the bad thing is I had sex with my girlfriend so if it is from chlamydia she needs to know and get treated to, but that's just going to open up a can off worms

Hi you can't get epi from protected sex as no bacteria could get inside your penis to cause and infection.

So do you know where it might have came from then? Because all this happened after my protected sex.. I had the ultrasound and was diagnosed
maybe an injury from the act itself
Ok this will be the last time I reply on this.. but you don't think anyway possible it can be from this? Usually if you have Epididymitis and it's from chlamydia do you know if it would be discharge? Because I haven't had any discharge.. I'm just trying to be prepared for the worse.. the doctors told me to tell me girlfriend to get tested and treated for STDs
according to the Mayo clinic
Trauma. A groin injury can cause epididymitis. So since the condom would prevent any bacteria it falls into the groin injury catagory
They also said i had a kidney stone maybe that's what's causing all this ??
