Dry Tongue and Lips + Bad Odor and Red Bumps

Hello. I am worried about what may be going on with my tongue/lips. The lips have been excessively dry for a few months now to the point of discomfort. Within the past few weeks, the tongue has now started becoming really dry as well. At first I thought it felt like a burn from the hot coffee I drank on the day when I first started noticing the dry tongue. However, as time went on, it wouldn't go away. Then a slight white film started to show on my tongue, and my mouth constantly reeks of a bad odor that was never present there before. Nowadays, my tongue has been salivating a lot less and I find myself constantly drinking water. I also noticed that drinks or juices with a lot of sugar in it causes my tongue to dry up more. Recently, I found that my tongue has small, little red bumps on them that are a little faint. The back of the tongue also has red bumps, but are larger. I'm worried that this might be STD related. I've only had one sexual partner and oral sex was rarely ever involved. Moreover, we have broken up a little over a year ago so it was quite a while ago. If it's not an STD, I heard it could be Sjogren's Syndrome or something? Should I be worried about this?

If it helps, it looks like this.. copy and paste URL

I don't know what the original poster found out, but a dry, painful tongue and/or lips aren't symptoms of any STD.

You could have an oral yeast infection, something called cheilitis, or a host of other things.

The first thing to check is if you are dehydrated. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water - not caffeine or alcohol as those are dehydrating.

Medications can cause this, too.

You really should see your doctor to determine the cause of it. Even if kay_dkay comes back, and I hope they do, your cause could be different from theirs.

Let us know what your doctor says.
