STI false negative or am I safe?

Had a one night stand with a questionable character. About 10 days later started getting symptoms such as itching/stinging sensation and feeling of discharge (no color) outside of urination. The worst of it lasted a week or so and then subsided. Went and got the full gamut of STI testing. 4 weeks between encounter and tests. All tests came back negative. For a few days was feeling good then slowly noticed the itching/stinging inside urethra again though not as bad as before.

Question is, could it simply be a UTI? Ive never had a UTI before so if it were that would be a hell of a coincidence.

How much faith can i put in the negative results? Enough to start having sex again without worry of infecting someone?

Could it be some other STI that wouldnt be commonly tested for during an STI-specific swab and urine test? Or one that is easily missed in male STI testing?

Thanks for the response. I know that I am most likely correctly negative however the fact i am still getting symptoms is throwing me for a loop.

After researching some more my symptoms honestly sound most like Trichomoniasis. Mild to moderate urithritis and some discharge intially which comes and goes. I noticed that throughout my STI testing at a STI specific clinic they never once mentioned Trich or even indicated they test for it. They seemed more concerned about Gonnorhea and Chlamydia.

Is trich not considered a big deal? Why would they test for everything under the sun but not that?

That said my encounter was unprotected oral and protected vaginal so Trich is also unlikely considering its not passed orally...

Hi, If all the tests came back negative 5 days after exposure then it would be negative what they tested for. Usually inside urethra itching is common sign of Chlamydia but there should also be a white/gray puss discharge also chlamydia symptoms would be pretty much constant and not coming and going. Maybe your causing it your self con constant checking and pulling looking for signs of infection.

Definitely not causing it myself. I am specifically leaving the little guy alone so as to see if the urithritis will go away on its own, but it hasnt (going on nearly 5 weeks now)
