Scared as to what I may have contracted...

Hello
Preface - Unprotected sex on weekend of Sept 20th - Lasted 1-2min because we realized it was unsafe...
Mid November, slight discomfort/itching around waistline and has since moved to regions from back of knee, thighs, buttocks, groin area, and waistline.

It started with a itch/rash that was on my left side along the waistline and moved to both sides (as in a belt line) it would look like a couple bug bites and when itched, it would look like it was spreading. Basically looking like the hair follicules were inflammed a bit. Well recently it comes and goes and seems to be more apt to itch during the evening hours, prior to bedtime. I have actually awoken a few times during the night because of the intense itching. I have never noticed "blisters" that would indicate herpes, but the fact I have this "itching" all over my groin, buttocks, etc area it makes me believe its possible, and me being the pessimist that I am, always thinks the worst.

Recently, the itch has been most "concentrated" if you will to the upper, front part of the thighs, and to my inner buttocks (not anus itself, but along the edge that would make contact if you were sitting) If i scratch this "itch" it will seem to get inflammed and almost flare up, or cause other "bumps" in the general vacinity. Every so often, my groing (penis/scrotum) will itch. I have noticed a few discoloration spots on the head of my penis that come and go, but no open sores of the nature.

I am just curious if anyone would have any inclination as to what might be going on with me/condition. I have been to two doctors (general practice) and one issued me Minocycline and the other told me to try Sarna Cream and buy a Humidifier. Well, obviously that didnt work because I am posting here today on the internet. I would greatly apprecaite any help/advice and my anxiety is really getting the best of me! (Thinking its possibly herpes).

Thank you

folliculitis was my first guess from your description of things and then when you said you had it before and thought that this is what it is initially is a good indicator that that's what this really is.  You aren't likely to contract herpes from 1-2 minutes of sex either.  Really sounds like your anxiety about it all is getting the better of you.  If the folliculitis isn't clearing up with just antibacterial soaps - see your provider to discuss antibiotic therapy.

Just fyi  - manufacturers changes their ingredients constantly - especially in this economy as they are always looking for ways  to cut costs. Just because you aren't bothered by a product one day - doesn't mean it won't be an issue another.

Thank you for the reply!
The doctors more so took a look and "made guesses"
I actually had folliculitis about 3yrs ago, and at first it resembled that, as far as inflammation of the hair follicles, and while I still believe it could be that, or related to that, the doctors didn't seem to think so...

I actually have not been tested, and I'm thinking about getting that done in the next week or so just to put my mind at ease, because it has caused great anxiety...fear of the unknown, or the possibilities I guess.

I have actually thought it could have been allergies in the fact that I seem to notice it the most, when the weather has drastic changes...as from mild/cool to cold. I have taken some zyrtec and claritin and while it seemed to "aide" I'm not sold its allergies?!?! I have lived in this climate all my life, and its weird to think that at the age of 24 it would be having a different effect.

As far as detergents, I have been using Era for the last 3yrs, and nothing new with clothing, soaps, or any of the above. I often wonder if it would be a mite or some sort, but again, there goes my mind, wondering what if...

Again, I sincerely appreciate your advice, and like I said, in the next couple weeks I plan to go get a full STD test just to put my mind at ease (hopefully!!)

Thanks again

Have you had any testing, or are doctors just taking a look and making guesses?

I'd doubt it is an std, but its time to see a specialist - maybe a dermatologist.

Have you tried taking a benedryl to see if that helps?  I wonder if its an allergic reaction.  Have you changed soaps, worn any new clothes, changed detergents, etc?
