Sex after STD treatment

Hello,

Last week end I received unprotected oral sex in a swingers club. On Monday I felt a slight tingling on the top of my penis. I was also getting a bit paranoid so I don't know if it was a real symptom or if I was just freaking out. I went for STDs test on Wednesday and the doc gave me antibiotics (Suprax and apo azithromycin) juste in case.  I still did not receive the results of my tests. I don't feel the burning anymore, and I was wondering what were the risks of having unprotected sex with my current partner.

Thanks for the help.

colds are not std related.

we recommend waiting a full week after treating chlamydia and gonorrhea before resuming sexual contact.   there is a risk of transmitting something before then.

why don't we recommend prophylactic antibiotics? because the rates of resistance with some std's are very high and we don't want to add to that problem as well as the side effects of antibiotics often cause more troubles than they are worth to be taken needlessly. gone are the days of doctor's giving antibiotics out like candy.  far better for your health and safer to follow up with the proper testing at the proper times and only treat if anything is detected.

Also I'm feeling like I'm starting a cold today. Bad coincidence or reason to worry?

Thank you for your answer.

May I ask why you don't recommend prophylactic antibiotics?

Also, my question was more: in the (unlikely) case that I have been infected by a STD, is there any risk for transmission 5 to 7 days after I took the pills?

Thanks again for your time.

the odds that you contracted anything from receiving oral sex are very low. in general we don't recommend any testing and we certainly don't recommend prophylactic antibiotics. for the future, only have protected sexual contact - protects you and your regular partner, saves you worrying and saves you frequent testing.

up to you whether to have sex with your partner before you know the results of any testing you had done.
