Worried!

Hello Dr(s)

I'm a 23 year old female and was unfortunately the victim of rape in Feb. 2009. Ever since then I have been experiencing heavy discharge, cramping and uncomfortable sexual intercourse since then. I have been with my fiance now for 6 years and we have a 4 year old son together. This single episode has really scarred me, to say the least. I have a few questions that I would LOVE to be able to get answered. A few weeks after the rape I went to the OBGYN to get tested for everything. I was tested for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, all Hepatitis's, Syphilis, Trick, HIV and even diabetes (along with a PAP smear) Thankfully everything came back negative. While I was waiting for the results though, I had to go to the emergency room with severe (and I mean SEVERE) cramping. The doctor at the ER said that I had a lot of discharge and they were going to test me for chlamydia, gonorrhea and trick (the chlam/gonor wasn't going to come back for a few days-and they said they would only call if it was positive) Trick came back negative right away, but they treated me for the other two just to be on the safe side. Needless to say they never called back, so they were negative. My cramping stopped almost immediately, so I assumed I had one or the other. Anyways...I continued to see the same doctor who had said that I has bacterial vaginosis and gave me Metronidazole (2 pills a day for a week) I went in time after time for testing and ended up having 'bacterial vaginosis' 4 different times within 3 months, and put on the same medicine (that clearly wasn't working)  I decided it was time to see another doctor! Thankfully she was a lot more helpful than the others. She said I has mycoplasma and ureaplasma along with an inflamed cervix. I took another round of metronidazole and I believe azithromycin...but it didn't work. (Mind you my fiance is taking the same rounds of medicine that I am....with no results.) Now I am on Doxycycline (2 times a day for a week) and Clindamcin (4 times a day for a week) and I was wondering if this combination of drugs would have any effect?! I have had this problem for over a year now and with all these failed attempts at curing it, it's making me depressed. Also, I was tested at 3 1/2 months and 8 months for HIV and both came back negative. Is there a need to test again, just to make sure? And my final question...if I didn't have chlamydia or gonorrhea, why did the medication they game me to cure it take ALL my cramping away?? Thank you so much for your time on this! I'm so happy they have things like this where you can ask a professional! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!

Thank you again,
Stephi

Thanks you for your answer, I really appreciate it! I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow actually, so I will post with results. I will also talk with my provider about sensitive testing and see what she says. Thank you again!

also I removed your other post since it was essentially the same post. your provider was wrong when she told you that it can take up to 2 years to test accurately for hiv.

no need for any further hiv testing. you covered that base enough now.

if this current drug course doesn't take care of things, ask them to reculture you and send it to the lab for sensitivity testing to see what antibiotics will take care of things.

also if you haven't had an ultrasound yet, if you are still having these painful cramps with your period and pain with sex, it's time for one.

I would just like to add I posted another question on here regarding the HIV....the rape that I am speaking of occurred between myself and two other people, a male and a female. The female was my friend and we were both very intoxicated. My male forced us to have sex with him...and I know for a fact that this girl has sleep with over 30 people, but not an IV drug user. I have no clue about the guy. I did not touch the female but the male took turns obviously without 'washing up'. It is embarrassing to talk about this because I never thought it would happen to me. I would have tried to fight it if there wasn't 3 other guys in the room telling us to be quiet. I wish every day that I had gone to the police. Just wanted to add that on. Thank you again.
