Sore throat a day or so after protected oral?

Hi, I gave my wife oral with a dental dam (just more hygienic) on Monday night.  Either the very next morning, or the morning after, I woke up with a mild, dry feeling sore throat.  It was that way for two mornings and then felt worse after the first couple days.  My throat is sore and it hurts to yawn now.  The glands on my throat under my jaw do not feel swollen and I don't seem to have a fever but sides of my neck do feel sore.  I looked at the back of my throat and it does have some small white gunk spots and some redness.  We have been monogamous for years and neither of us have any STIs as far as we know.  Just worried about HPV or something since many people have it and don't even know.  I don't think the dental damn had a hole or anything.  What could this be?  It is kind of unusual to get a sore throat in the summer.  Thanks!
