Is it possible to get an Std without having sex ?

They may sound extremely weird, but every time one of my roommates get an std I find out I have one a little after. This has happened twice, also I recently found out that someone did something really disgusting and peed inside and of something I use to clean myself. The question is could I have contracted and std by unknowingly using the item to clean my private area after someone urinated in it ?
