Timing of STD tests. Should I be confident?

I performed oral sex on a transexual using a condom (the right way).  I know that using the condom provides excellent protection against anything transferred by a body fluids but I am concerned about things like syphilis and Herpes.  I tested negative for both 3 weeks after the incident.  Should I be be comforrable with my results?

I did not see any rash or sores on my partner.  I ask about HIV status and was told she was negative but I know she has many sexual partners.  There was no other sexual contact other than me perfoming oral without ejaculation.  Again this is primarily a syphilis/herpes question.

Thanks.

Just to close the loop on this thread: I received my 6 week syphilis test results today and they were negative (as gracefromHHP told me they would be).

I thought that it would be good to post this result so other people like me who are battling with guilt and spinning out elaborate what-if scenarios could see that the answers from the volunteers on this board really are something you should listen to.

Thanks again gracefromHHP for your patient and informative responses.

we recommend protected sexual contact because it works!!!

protected oral sex is as close to no risk as it gets. no reason for any worries or testing :)

as a fyi - 3 weeks post encounter is too early testing for both of those but no reason to repeat since this was essentially a no risk encounter.
