To Grace - Herpes or something else

Hi Grace - I'd like your opinion - I had unprotected sex with a causal partner almost a month ago. Today, I notice a bump that's not really red (except my constanantly looking at it and feeling it has made the area red). It's a little painful to the touch The bump is singluar and located to the right of my penis...where the genital area meets the body - and is covered by pubic hair. I can't tell 100% if it has a hair coming out of it...looks like it does, but I'm not sure. It feels more like the bump is under the skin, rather than superficial. It doesn't look like a fluid filled blister - at least not yet. In the same general area as the bump there seem to be a few red spots...not raised. Looks like it could be an extension of intertrigo. I have been known to get a bit of intertrigo in the fold between my leg and groin (especially when the weather is warm).

Does this sound overly like herpes to you? I'm starting to get worried here.

The best thing to do is to go see your doctor instead of sitting at home looking at it frequently and worrying.  It could be many, many things.

Does it sound typical for herpes? I was under the assumption that generally, if it's "on" the skin it could be, but if it's "in" the skin...most likely a pimple or ingrown hair, etc.
