Hi, false positives are possible so just wait till the retest. Did they give you medications to take for chlamydia?
Yes, I was prescribed a medication. I am so sure there was an error that I demanded the retest before taking anything. However, the NP insisted I take the medication until the results return. Unwillingly, I took the medication and had a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotic and have had complications since, which further infuriates me. This is such a difficult situation because it doesn't make sense.
Does you OBGYN know whats going on? Being pregnant and all.
Yes. The test was done routinely as it is required during pregnancy. Although I was seen by a NP, it was an OB within the practice who authorized the re-test and the OB who called in my prescription.
Dont be surprised with a false positive. If you and your husband are faithful you did not get it from him and it does not lie dormant for 8 years if he had it before.
After a week of hell and daily calls to my doctor's office asking if results were in, I learned today that my retest (which I demanded BEFORE treatment) was negative. NEGATIVE. I insisted it was a mistake all along. According to my doctor's office, they have never seen a false positive in their career. Funny, because I've found them all over the internet.... women in the exact same situation as me. I can only pray that any pregnant mother who finds themselves in this terrible situation, they know they are not alone and YES you can receive a false positive. Do not allow any doctor (or nurse practitioner in my case) to belittle you as though the only explanation is infidelity. I hope this post finds its way to anyone who is searching for answers as I was, and this give you a sense of peace.
