Urethral Awareness

I had a protected anal sex (I topped) and received unprotected oral sex with another guy on Nov. 18th...After that I started feeling a sensation at the tip of my penis but with no discharge, lesion, redness, burning sensation or anything else. It's just a sensation at the tip tho' I noticed that I'm urinating more frequently (like every hour). I went to the doctor on Nov, 23rd and he got me tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. He also gave me two antibiotics (one for Chlamydia and another for GC).  Its over 10 days now since my urine test and I haven't received any call. They say no news is good news. I still have the same symptoms - sensation at the tip and more frequent that usual urinating...Is this STD or something else?

no you shouldn't be overly worried about the urine volume. It actually only takes 10 drops of urine to do the testing you had done.

follow up on symptoms as needed.

also try to keep yourself busy so you are thinking about your genital area less often too. bake cookies and freeze them for the holidays ( or send them to me!!! ), clean the house, go shopping with friends, anything to keep your mind off your genitals :)  also avoid caffeine and alcohol for a week or so - they can both add to these symptoms too.

hahaha...yeah i kinda realized that afterwards. yeast infection makes more sense and it is consistent with my other symptoms...the pain gets worse after masturbation and again the dry skin (with straight cuts) on the underside of my penis 1 day after exposure. i hope this is it. i will go to the doctor tomorrow and ask if it's yeast infection. is it safe to apply the topical cream i used before for my meatus?

a yeast infection is a fungal infection :)

fungal or yeast infection? if yeast infection, i can relate because i noticed some dry skin the day after the questionable encounter on the undeside of my penis. i had infected with yeast infection from my gf before so i used the cream to treat my initial yeast infection on that area and it disappeared the next day...

well it certainly would not be herpes lingering for 7 weeks. odds are it's irritation or even a fungal infection going on.

an update...i did went for a 2nd urine test and tests came back negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea...avoiding caffeine and alcohol also helped the frequent urinating..7 weeks after the questionable encounter i still have that "raw" sensation at the tip of my penis. i looked at my pee hole an noticed some redness there. i would like to think that that lesion has been there for a while. although i didnt check the 1st day but the sensation has not lessened nor worsened since day 1. it feels like the sensation is coming from that area. it seems to feel worse after ejaculating. i went to another doctor and he said i have a lesion in my urethra and referred to me to a urologist. now waiting for an appointment. again i dont have any pain urinating nor any discharge. just this sensation and the lesion.

what could this be? thanks for the help... .

First you have to remember you have received the appropriate therapy to kill either infection in a diagnosed person, so either if you had it or not, rest assured unless you had another exposure, you sure don't have it anymore.

Second, they do the identifications now with PCR testing, so it picks up even very small amounts of microbial dna or rna.

last question:

3) what are the chances that the result was indeed false negative?

i went to the doctor today and he showed me the test result...they're both negative but there's a comment that the urine volume is incorrect and that it may result to false negative. they need 20-60ml...i believe i was close to 20ml because the container was at least half full...the doctor showed me that they did a culture growth and result is NO GROWTH. I did went for another urine test tho but I already took the meds so i expect a negative result...i'm just worried that i infected other people if i was truly positive...i still have that sensation at the tip of my penis and slight lower abdominal pain... questions are:

1) should i be worried about the comment about the urine volume?

2) is this still STD or should I have some peace of mind?

there's a good article on prostatitis in my journal if you click on my name and look for it. symptoms can be tingling and frequent urination.

yes, the antibiotics you had treat the 2 most common std's.

i actually did call the clinic on saturday...i got the same response that they will call me if it's positive or if the doctor says so...by the way,the treatment i got was 400mg dose of cefixime and 1g dose of azithromycin..if it's GC or chlamydia the symptons should have been gone after the treatment right...is the prostate check for the tingling sensation i'm getting or for the frequent urination?

I'm not a fan of the no news is good news approach, I recommend calling monday for results to know for sure. too easy for a phone call to you to be forgotten about so following up properly is always a good idea.

you need to go back if you aren't better by this point. they should do another urine test as well as manually inspect your prostate to check for a prostatitis.
