Wart on lower abdomen

Hello Doctor, I have searched the STD forum for information on the likelihood of a given lower-abdominal wart being from an HPV subtype that causes genital warts. I haven't found much discussion about that.

I was diagnosed as having a wart on the shaft of my penis about 3 months ago, just a bit closer to the end of my penis than my circumcision scar. It was tiny and I had it removed and biopsied (confirmed to be a wart). Since then, I think several warts have come and gone, sort of growing for a short spurt then just sort of vaporizing (I guess slowly flaking off). In recent (1-2 weeks) self-examination, I haven't been able to confirm the existence of any more warts on my penis.

However, about a week ago, a bump appeared about 1.8 inches above the base of my penis on my lower abdomen. About 1mm or so in diameter. It was a bit sore from rubbing from a string tie on my athletic shorts, I thought. It remained somewhat sore for a few days. I showed it to my dermatologist, and he examined it under a microscope. He said that it looked very warty, of cauliflower like appearance. Indeed, when I really looked at it under his very bright light, it looked rather rough and scaled over the skin, like a wart, I think. He froze it off with liquid nitrogen.

Given the appearance, and my history of having a confirmed genital wart, he suspected my abdominal bump was a wart of the same type as my prior penile wart. But he said it could be another HPV subtype that causes genital warts. I asked him if it was necessarily "of genital subtype" and he said that it was around the genitals, and so probably caused by an HPV subtype that causes genital warts.

I asked my dermatologist some more questions. He seemed to discount the idea of HPV clearance, and reiterated that a person has the HPV virus for life, and it can always come back. He said that as time goes on, there is a lower likelihood of outbreaks, but he stealthily avoided the question of quantitative likelihoods.

Also [this probably doesn't matter] recently my penis has been red and irritated, with little sort of bumps (not blisters, no pain) that I do normally see, but that are greater in number now. The bumps are on the lower part of the head. They are just rasied areas, and normally I see some raised areas, but the quantity is slightly greater. I am thinking that humidity and maybe fungus caused a bit of swelling.

My questions:
1) If my penis sits on my abdomen, it is possible that the wart on my penis before rubbed against my abdomen in the location the recent abdominal wart appeared. Is it likely that there was a transfer? Should I be worried about transfer of virus from the frozen (healing) wart to my penis?

2) Is it likely to be of an HPV subtype that does not cause genital warts (directly on genitals)?

3) Would it be likely to be a different HPV subtype?

4) Anything else this could likely be?

Thank you for providing this service.

Since you also posted this in the std experts forum - how about we wait until they've had a chance to answer it there and then if you have more questions we can address them again here?
