What are the possibilities?

Last week I got to where I had to urinate almost every hour, had a hard time going and then only a little came out. I also had soreness in my urethra just below the meatus, and around the urethra was red. Within two days I had burning when I urinated and a slight discharge. The discharge looked mostly like urine but just a bit thicker. Went to the doctor and he prescribed Cipro. Did a urine test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and they were negative. Still concerned, went to the STD clinic that day and got the full workup a Rocefin injection, Zithromax 1g pills, and Metronidazole 2g pills. The culture results from the STD clinic are not in yet. I still had the same symptons for 4 more days. However, on the 5th day (today) I still had them but later in the day I went to urinate and saw a small blood clot come out. It looked to be no more than 1/4" or so long, and then had a slight blood urine mixture. Since that incident I have not had any more pain during urination. Any ideas?

Are the symptoms of Chlamydia the same as a bladder infection?  Keep getting recurring bladder infections which go away with antibiotics, but, the infection seems to come back so quickly!  I am wondering if it is possible for Chlamydia to be misdiagnosed as a UTI.

I don't know what to tell you - its good that whatever it was is getting better, and you might just have to wait for the results.

I gave a urine specimen but the doctor didn't say anything about it. Throughout the week, I could see like some stuff in my urine, but it wasn't cloudy. I think from what I have read on here they might have been shreds. I still have a small discharge, but it just looks like urine now. Not sure now what the problem is/was and which antibiotic may have done something.

Did anyone do a urine test to look for red blood cells or bacteria specific to a urinary tract infection?

You should let your doctor know what happened.
