Swollen lymph node in armpit

I have read up on swollen lymph nodes and STDs of late, after a foolish experience that I had. Fortunately, to this point, I really have not had any symptoms associated with any STDs or STIs. However, now I do have a swollen lymph node underneath one of my armpits. Would it be typical/common of any STD or STI to have only one swollen lymph node, especially in the absence of other symptoms? It seems like most of what I've read indicates that STD/STI signs would be more of a generalized swelling. Of course, maybe in a day or two, I will have more. Or maybe I already have more, but I can't tell as obviously.

Anyway, I'm just going on what I have so far, and that is one swollen node under my armpit. Should I be concerned about any STD or STI based on this?

no reason to think this is related at all to your encounter.

you can contract std's from genital to genital contact only but the risk of such are very low. hpv is the most common std from that sort of contact and it wouldn't cause you to have swelling in your arm pit.

continue to follow up with your providers as needed - no reason for std testing or worrying about std's.

Still waiting results from my testing, but just a quick update. Six days now after first noticing my swollen node, and well, maybe it wasn't a node after all? Whatever it is has gone down drastically in size. I now wonder if the node was a cyst or some other growth? I read up more and more on nodes vs. cysts and it sounds like if I could move the bump with skin, it wouldn't be a node? If so, I believe I could move the bump. Probably just more anxiety for someone who had a stupid encounter.

Either way, I should know by Thursday or Friday what my results are.

Encounter was unprotected genital to genital contact with another guy.  Also oral. The first night I felt the swollen node was 59 days post encounter.

what was your encounter?

how long ago was it?

odds are this isn't std related at all. see your provider if you are concerned for a proper work up.

Right now you could have anything including not STD's. There are some STD's that cause swollen lymph nodes but generally you have other symptoms. Syphillius and a certain type of Chlaymdia trachomatis (CT) can cause swollen lymph nodes. But usually more than one side. You could get tested for these organisms but since you don't have any other symptoms it may not be either of these.
