Woke up with rash

Hi,

I'm a 26 year old gay male in good health with no history of STDs.  When I awoke this morning, I felt some itching.  I didn't think anything of it, until I inspected it right before taking a shower.  I saw possibly 50 little red bumps going along the ridge of my "happy trail."  I shaved the area afterwards to get a better view of the irritated skin.  It seems the bumps are all surrounding hair follicles.  It's not extremely painful, just itchy.  I don't seem to have irritation anywhere else.

I had unprotected sex with a childhood friend, someone I don't know very well, the night before last night.  This was our first time doing so, and I was mostly the "top."  I'm fairly certain that whatever this problem is, it's related from that night.  I don't have sex extremely often.

These bumps were non-existent last night.  It's not razor burn, because I hadn't shaven for days.  They just formed while I slept.  I'm guessing this is an STD of some type, possibly herpes but hopefully something temporary, but don't know enough about this stuff to make an educated opinion.

In the following image, you'll see my navel at the upper extremity and pubic hair of the groin at the lower.

Thank you in advance.

we don't look at any pictures here. why not is explained in our read before posting post on the forum.

shaving over this was a bad idea :(  Depending on the cause of your rash, you just potentially spread it even more. toss the razor or soak it in vinegar or bleach for 10 minutes.

bottom line is - you need to be seen. this could be a std but it also could be a bacterial or fungal skin infection too. since you had unprotected sex, you also need to be following up on proper testing at the proper times. you can get tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich and ngu any time after 1 week post encounter. syphilis after 6 weeks. herpes, hiv and hepatitis after 3 months.

have you had your gardasil shots for hpv yet?

we recommend protected sexual contact for good reason - it works and it should be something you are practicing every single time. your health isn't worth the risk and the rates of antibiotic resistant gonorrhea alone should be enough to make you want to only have protected sexual contact!! Also the rates of herpes in gay males are very high and hsv2 infection increases your risk of hiv - 2 more reasons to only have protected contact!!
