Yeast infection or herpes.

I am married. Have been with only my husband for over two years. My husband has been only with me.  Last month I got a yeast infection. I have had one before and knew the symtoms itchy, painful urination, cottage cheese type dishcharge, and yeast smell. I ate yogurt and bought a natural yeast killing supository and waited a week and it did not get better. I also started getting a few bumps around my vulva. They were not painful and I poped one or two of them. So I decided to go to the doctor, we did not have insurance so we went to a care now clinic. The doctor looked at me for 3 seconds (I'm not exagerating, he did not even toutch me, take a sample or anything) and told me it was herpes. When I asked if I could have had it for years he said "I don't know". He gave me pills but the same day I started taking them I also bought the monistat supository, and my symptoms cleared up in about 3 days. And the sores that I had poped cleared up in about 5. So. I'm just concerned. it didn't make sence that I'm married and randomly contracted herpes.

Oh, and if you have any other questions about herpes, there is a separate forum for that.

Well, I have heard of yeast infections causing little bumps around the vulva.  I do not think it was herpes.  It is possible to have herpes for years and not know.  But it is not common for that to happen in women.

Unfortunately, for you, the only thing you can do is wait and see if this ever happens again.  Then I would think that quack you saw correct.  Maybe.  He didn't even know how to answer you when you asked if you could have it for a while and not know.

Try looking up free std clinics in Texas.  If it happens again, they can test you and possibly treat you there as well.  Even if it doesn't and you find free testing, go there after about 4 months to be sure and request a full panel std screening.  Better to know than wonder.

Yes I live in Texas . The problem is my husband and I are both unemployed so getting to the doctor is difficult. Im not sure how much the lab work would cost.

Well, like you said, he didn't test you, so there is no way without a blood test at this time to determine whether or not it was herpes.  Do you live in the US?
