vaginal burning and mucus discharge

About 4 months ago I started having vaginal burning and a thick mucus discharge, I first used several OTC medications for yeast but the symptoms reoccured. I have been to several Dr.'s over the course of 4 months, and treated multiple times for bacteria vaginosis and yeast, although neither were ever detected. I was tested for all STD's and all were negative except a blood test for HSV2. I began taking Valtrex and after 2 weeks there was still no relief from my symptoms. During the course of taking the valtrex i also developed a sore throat. After my Dr. said that my symptoms must not be related to the HSV because the valtrex should have relieved them I stopped ALL medications (including my birth control pill) out of frustration with my situation. My sore throat and vaginal burning subsided for a couple weeks of taking no medications but returned after recieving oral sex.

I am desperate to figure out what the cause is and am afraid that my stress and depression over this situation is causing me to become ill in other ways, as I recently started having a cold/flu and am now suffering from all of those symptoms on top of the burning taht i have been experiencing for 4 months. Please help!

If you didn't perform oral, you don't have an oral std.

I've had the same nasty cold, and I noticed some sores on my tongue today - it must all be part of it.  :(

I have not had oral testing. I was not concerned with contracting an oral STD since I did not perform oral sex on my partner. Could it be a possiblilty? Also today I was looking at the back of my tongue since my mouth has been feeling really hot lately and I noticed a few small bumps on the very back. Could this be the HSV2 in my mouth? Or more likely a result of this nasty cold Ive had for a week?

Have you had oral testing?  All the genital testing in the world isn't going to find an oral std.

But most oral stds don't give symptoms, and with all the colds and flus going around, it could just be that.

Yes Actually the last Dr. I saw diagnosed me with that since nothing seemed to work and all results were negative. He gave me several pamplets and a website to go to for information. I am just still concerned that there is something else goin on since it began after having this new partner (whom it was just that one time only) and thought that the throat issues were also all too conveneint to be happening simultaneously yet be unrelated. Do you think the throat issues are related or just coming on due to the stress of the situation? since I have been tested for strep, mono, trich, chlamydia and gonorrhea, All negative...

Thank you so much for your help.

Well, if everything is negative, and you can't pinpoint anything you are doing, you might talk to your doctor about something called vulvodynia.  You can find more by googling it or posting in the women's health forum.

Yes 2 of the Dr.'s sent cultures with no abnormal results. I had previously been using baby wipes after using the rest room but stopped once the burning started. I had not changed any soaps or detergents before then but it did begin about 3 weeks after having protected sex with a new partner. i originally thought that it was from the condom, i have in the past had issues with condom allergies but those usually cleared after a yeast treatment or just overtime.

Do you know if the doctor has sent a culture to the lab to see what grows?  If that hasn't been done, it needs to be.  Ask your doctor for an endocervical culture.

I'd also wonder if you are using any baby or feminine wipes, scented soaps or detergents, scented or colored toilet paper, tampons or pads, wearing anything but 100% cotton panties (even some of the dyes in undies can do it, or the latex in the elastic), douching, etc.  It could be an allergy or sensitivity to any of these things.
