burning urethra, clear discharge

Hi guys,

On 3rd December I had sex with a girl I met at the club. Used condom for vaginal sex, oral without. On Sunday I started to feel a burning sensation in my urethra and noticed I had a clear discharge from my penis. Went to get tested on Monday, still awaiting results from chlamydia/gonorrhoea. Swab taken from my penis revealed an infection due to white blood cells present but my doc could not say whether it was chlamydia or NGU. She provided me with azithromycin 4x250g. 5 days later there's no improvement and additionally my left tecticle started to become sore, I've got pain in my lower back and my lower abdomen feels a bit tight. Gonna see my doc on Monday but just wanted to see what you guys think about this. From the symptoms I'm experiencing it could be gonnorhea. Should be getting my urine results first thing Monday morning.

1. Did my doctor miss a trick by treating me for NGU/chlamydia instead giving me drugs for both chlamydia and gonnorhea?

2.If the test going to come back positive for gonnorhea will azithromycin together with Ceftriaxone be as effective as if it would have been administered in first instance?

3. Could azithromycin be administered again even though I've already taken it last Monday?

Thanks guys

Thanks for the reply! What's the chances of non gonococcal urethritis clearing up without any antibiotics?  Got my test results back for chlamydia and gonnorhea they are both negative but don't know how accurate is that as the urine sample taken 4 days after initial contact with a new partner.

it doesnt sound like gonnorhea because you dont get clear discharge with it but rather a white-yellowish dishcharge with a bad smell. It seems more like an atypical non gonococcal urethritis. it wont always show in a swab test. Doxycycline for 7-8 days should clear it for good. Azithromycin is a NO NO NO because if an antibiotic is working for you the improvement shows at the first 48 hours so it shouldnt be taken again.
