Ooops...also in my original post, where is says "By 6 months, that amount turns into 95%"....it should read "By 6 weeks"
Forgot to mention, there is no difference between 86 days and 90 days...they both fall under the 3 months = conclusive category
Guys...why do you ask the same question that has been covered on this forum over and over again. Roughly 90% of people infected with HIV will have a positive antibody test by one month after infection. By 6 months, that amount turns into 95%. If you double that (i.e., 3 months) you can be almost 100% sure you do not have HIV. THere are 2 reasons why some might say 6 months;
1) They haven't been informed about the new generation tests. In the old days, they recommended you test out to 6 months b/c the tests were old. WIth modern day tests, 3 months is absolutely conclusive.
2) Some people may have their immune systems compromised...these are people who might be on chemotherapy, etc....which doesn't apply to you.
Move on with your life...trust me. ANd also, take it from me b/c I've been where you're at...STOP COMING TO THIS WEBSITE...at least for a month. I guarantee you'll stop stressing!
i'm in the same boat as well tested neg at 42 days and neg at 103 days but can,t get it out of my head.why o why is there different opinion whether its 3 months or 6 months.
