Herpes??? please weigh in...

I got tested with the HerpesSelect IgG test and came back negative for both 1 and 2.  The test was done 6 months after my possible exposure.

My concern now stems from a red "line"...kind of like a crack.  I guess the best way to describe it is like a lesion.  Its about half an inch long.  You can really only see it if you spread the skin where it looks like a crack.  It doesn't hurt at all and hasn't changed in 5 days however its never been there before.

Please weigh in on whether this might be herpes and whether or not the test was a false negative.  It is really stressful as Im sure you all know.

Thank you.

Ya know, I can't really say.  I've had this for 5 days with no noticeable change.  I've been avoiding messing with it since then so Im not sure what it would do if I had any sexual activity going on.

Im not surprised that yours would look worse after sexual activity though no matter what it is.  From the forums it sounds like if you're not sure its best to either have a doc look at it or get a herpesselect blood test Ig"G".  It costs a little money but its worth the peace of mind.

I'll let you know if anything changes once I've had sexual activity and let you know how long this thing sticks around.  I'm sorry I don't any more.

Your problem sound like what I'm going through right now actually. My "cut" has remained pretty much the same for about 2 weeks now. When I apply polysporin and go to sleep, I wake up and it looks much better, but after masturbation or sexual activity it seems to get worse. Does your "tear" do that ? Herpes is the only thing I have not been tested for, and I get really paranoid easily.

Thank you for your response.  These are stressful matters and in unsure situations others' comments lend great support.

Thank you.

Because you are HSV1 negative the test is much more likely to be correct at the 6 month mark.  For people who have HSV1 it is about 80% accurate.  For you it is probably 98%.
Great news for you!  It is only a red line...
