STD inquiry

Hello Doctor, 3 days ago I made a huge mistake by having unprotected sex with someone. Now 2-3 days later, after doing internet research I notice that the symptoms that I am having only leads to herpes? I am having muscle spasm/tingling all over my body. My muscles also aches a bit all over my body, I don't have any other symptoms that leads to herpes but could it be that its still just early? Does any other STD's have this symptom cuz on the internet it just leads to herpes. I am going out of my mind, could it just be that I am being paranoid since I don't have any other symptoms? Thanks, hope to hear from you soon.

There are plenty of stories that arise on this forum just like yours and they are all warrented due to anxiety... There is nothing you can do until the time frame for testing is up so there is no reason for you to worry unless you have actual symptoms of any STD. Honestly your encounter although unprotected is still a low risk as it was a one time encounter.

Just breath and relax and when the time comes get tested.

Last question to help me with my possible anxiety symptom, have you had any other or several other stories where they had muscle tingle/spasm thoughout their body with the stress of everything and it turned out to be nothing? Is it a common anxiety side effect? Thanks!

Thanks Grace, I think it may be anxiety that is cause my muscles to tingle/spasm. I did read on the internet that is something that happens when your stress/anxious. Thanks a lot, I will keep examining myself to see if any other symptoms appear. So far, nothing else.

Thanks again!!!

no reason at all to think you have a std at this point. your symptoms are too vague and probably are more anxiety related than anything.

so what do you do since you had unprotected sex with a random partner?  You can wait 1 week and then get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia. You need to wait 6 weeks for syphilis testing. After 3 months post encounter you can get tested for herpes and hiv. should you develop any real symptoms prior to that - painful or itchy lesions or pain with urination or discharge, be seen promptly for proper work up.
