massage parlor safety against std's

I am a male and I travel a lot. I have recently gone to a massage parlor and received a happy ending. She wore a latex glove.

My question is this:

Is having a masseuse wear a latex glove a safe and reliable way to not contract an std or hiv during a handjob FROM said masseuse? Or is a condom a better option?

This question I imagine would also pertain to men that have girlfriends that may have herpes or are unsure of there partners health.

Thanks for your insight.

Thanks for your reply! What about in situations where you don't know your partner very well like a masseuse or non commitment partners?

You are not at risk for STDs from this event.  STDs are generally not spread through hand-to-genital contact.  In theory it could happen, but it isn't common.  Regarding whether to use a condom or latex glove, it's really up to you...but personally, I do not believe your risk factor is high enough to wear a glove, especially if you are in a committed relationship.  But that is just my opinion...hope tihs helps.
