need guidance on syphilis

1 week ago i noticed a very small ulcer on the shaft of my penis... went to the hospital the next morning, doctor told me looks like nothing and gave me an RCR and a TPHA test anyways just to be safe. 2 days later both test came back negative, however the ulcer grew a little... then 2 days later it is bigger than before, but kind of just stayed at that size... completely painless and looks like now it formed a scab.... anyways went back to doctor, he didn't even give me any further tests and gave me 2 grams of Azithromycin... took it yesterday.... now it has been a day since i took it.... is the ulcer suppose to get noticeably smaller soon or what results should i see from the treatment? cuz so far everything looks the same... thanx

Yes it could be herpes.  I'm not sure why the provider you saw thought syphilis instead of herpes. Would be worth asking.

you should've seen results in 48 hours after taking the medication, not it getting worse.

ok i will definately change doctors.... but could you kindly answer 2 last questions? thanx

1) so u think it could possible be herpes and that it was too early to tell what std it is?

2) if it was syphilis.... how long is suppose to take for the ulcer to completely heal after i took the 2 grams of azithromycin?

There is a lot of resistance to azithromycin and it's no longer the preferred treatment.

I'd see a different provider if at all possible.

This is already scabbed so too late for herpes testing but you can get a herpes igg blood test now and repeat it in 3 or 4 months.

no, i don't even want to talk to her anymore.... it is really annoying me... so does the Azithromycin have an effect on the ulcer or should i go back and complain about him being unprofessional?

it was too early for the testing you had done.

do you know if your partner has had any std testing done?

At this point I'd return to your provider for further evaluation.
