persistent gonorrhea symptoms after treatment

I recently (10 days ago) showed positive for gonorrhea.  I was given an injection of ceftriaxone and 4 pills of azithromycin, which should have cured the infection; however, I am still feeling a burning sensation when I urinate.  I never had any discharge, and the burn is very mild but enough to annoy me.  Its more of an irritation at the tip of my penis.  I also believe I went untreated for a very long time, because of the lack of symptoms and just the very mild irritation and frequent urination.  I'm worried that the bacteria is not cured, although, I was treated 10 days ago.  Is this possible?  Should I be retested?  Should I be okay to continue having sex?   I did a full std screening and came up negative for all except for gonorrhea.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Well looking it over and with this new info I also find it strange because most men will get discharge as a primary symptom...over 90%. You might have gotten a false positive and actually have another bacteria present.

I probably will go back to the Dr; however, I find it very strange that I tested positive.  My fiance' recently just tested negative and she is the only one I've been with for a year and a 1/2.  I find this very strange.

It can take up to 2 weeks for all symptoms to stop. I would wait the full 2 weeks after your last does of medication and if nothing has improved then follow up with your Dr.
