pinkish/slight red bump on my scrotum

Hi,

I have a cluster of fordyce's spot on my scrotum and penis shaft and I shaved my pubic hair and scrotum 5 days before this incident. The night before last, I woke up to pee and saw a pinkish/red bump on my scrotum. I was worried as to what it was, so I squeezed it twice very hard with my finger nails. A watery/oily substance (white to yellowish) came out of it. It freaked me out, so I kept looking at it again and again yesterday and today as to what it was. It had a thin layer on it as it was healing and I squeezed that, too. Then, it started bleeding. I went and took a shower and it was still bleeding. I had to put some ointment and something to cover it. I pee alright. It is just that the frequency is more, but that is about it. I haven't had sex for a year now.

I know I was being dumb, but that happened coz I freaked out.

My questions are:

1. What was it? An ingrown hair, hair folliculitis or what?
2.  The affected area really hurts. What should I do?

Please advise. Looking forward to hearing from you.

It is probably just a pimple or an ingrown hair. When there are white heads, then they could be pimples and infected ingrown hairs if the white stuff can be squeezed. If the white stuff can’t be squeezed, it could be sebaceous prominence, which are blocked oil gland ducts. There are many oily glands in the scrotum and other parts of the skin. They produce sebum, oily substance that is carried on the skin surface through small ducts under the skin. Their function is to lubricate the skin and prevent it from becoming dry. When these ducts get blocked, the oily substance starts accumulating under the skin and if it has no place to get into the surface it causes these lumps.

So, if they are hard to squeeze they are probably sebaceous prominence also called sebaceous cysts. They are considered normal and there is nothing you can do about them.

Just leave it alone before it gets worse. It should heal by itself
