std going away on its own

i'm just wondering if its possible for an std to go away, the ones that are treated with antibiotics that is, could your body handle it on its own.  Just curious more than anything.

STDs are tricky in a lot of ways. A herpes outbreak can last a week or two before it clears up - but it never "goes away." It can flare up at any time. Syphilis has several stages. The first being a painless ulcer that appears on the genital. This typically heals (and completely disappears - with no scar) within a week or two - but the syphilis is still there. In fact, it progresses to stage 2 syphilis - which can effect your entire body. Gonorrhea and chlamydia can "go away" - but this is unlikely to happen without treatment. Instead, people can become asymptomatic (discharge / pain stops) but still carry and spread the bacteria. Left untreated both of these can cause infection higher up in the urinary track. Luckily, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia are all easily treated with antibiotics. Herpes stays around forever, but outbreaks can be controlled with anti-viral medication. And outbreaks tend to get less severe and less frequent as time passes. You always need to be properly tested and diagnosed when you suspect an STD. For people who have multiple partners - routine screening should be done.

Hope all turns out well...

oh, i didnt mean i would wait it out.  that would be ridiculous.  I have a second appointment with a doctor next week.  Its more that the one symptom i have been experiencing seems to be less bad today and I was just curious if its possible that if it is an std that it goes away on its own.  In no way am i considering denying myself medical attention.
