how contagious

I have had molluscum since Christmas 07. They seem to be clearing up. right now i have 1 larger one on my chest and some smaller ones on my genital area. My question is last night I was with my girlfriend and I told her about the skin condition I have and she was a bi worried that she might catch it.

1. How contagious is it?

2. Last night she had some skin to skin contact (her chest) possibly with the one on my chest and I didn’t realize it at the time. The contact was pretty brief if any. How likely is it that she will catch it? (we did not have sex or oral sex)

Well, we think so.  Its assumed right now that if the virus is present, you are infectious.

Is it possible to spread Molluscum if no outbreaks are present (ie, during the time of incubation)?

Molluscum is really contagious, and honestly, I'm surprised your gf hasn't already gotten it.

There aren't any transmission stats that I know of, and I don't know if brief contact like that would transmit it, though obviously the less time of exposure the less likely you are to transmit.

Check the health topics here (click the icon at the top of the page) or go to www.ashastd.org for more info on molluscum.
