yeast infection scare

I went to the doctor today urgent care, so it wasn't my normal doctor. He gave me an exam because my vagina has been iching. I had sex 3 days ago... and the guy fingered my. I once got a yeast infection from fingering because the guys hands were dirty. HOWEVER, this time I have no discharge and there is a white thing on my vagina.... i'm really scared that I have a different std... do you think its possible that he made a mistake? the exam took 1 min, he looked for 45 seconds and was like, "its definitely a yeast infection" I think he should have tested me for other stds anyways... what do you think? i'm really scared.

they can swab the white thing while it is there, the longer youtake to go back the less chances you have of getting proper diagnosis

you can read until your eyes are so blurry you can't see straight but you need seen and properly evaluated again to get answers.

follow up again since you have new symptoms.

I didn't have the white thing when I went, and yes he gave me diflucan and it was unprotected sex =( I was researching and most of the other symptoms for the other stds don't show up until later.

Just wondering did you point out this "White thing" to the doctor? If so what did he/she say? Like Grace said if you're not confident get another exam and this time ask for STD testing and make sure you point out the "White thing"

You should have the "White thing" seen before it clears up but as for other STD test see below for proper testing time lines (If your encounter was unprotected)

I would also make sure you get a proper swab for the yeast; you don't pay for Health insurance or doctors visits just to get a quickie

Chlamydia, Gono- 7 days post encounter
HSV- 4 month
Syphilis- 6-8 weeks
HIV- 3 months

properly testing for yeast is usually the best idea but many providers don't take the time to do it.

if you aren't confident in the diagnosis you were given , follow up elsewhere.

were you given diflucan for the yeast?
