Can I boost/recover low testosterone levels ??

Help please.  The issue is my libido is almost non-existent, and if you know what  MPA is, my  libido was NEVER too low!!    I am a 46 year old male and had been on a regimen of taking depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) starting from  2002 until I quit @ 2009.  I got married and found the woman of my dreams. I also am taking a medicinal pill cocktail of Atenolol, Norvasc, Wellbutrin, Topamax, Lamotragin, Abilify, and Cymbalta. I also suffer from Bi-polar and have been on some od these meds and others for @ 15 years.  I do know that I have to take most/some of these and that the SSRI's do/can cause ED.

My ultimate concern is that my libido may have permanently be altered to a lower level and that it might not be able to be raised.  My marriage and my wife really are deserving of that.     I'm thinking of consulting with my Urologist and Psychiatrist.

I have researched Progesterone cream may have some good results.

Any info or advice would be of great appreciation.

Thanks in kind.

Very few will understand the rationale of taking so many drugs. You and your doctor must have discussed in all details. However there is one point - interaction among so many drug. This subject of interaction has been given scanty attention even among the medical profession. It would be prudent to be aware of this factor.

good advice, however I do not just have Bi-polar. There are many other things including complex PTSD stemming from a Priest molestation when I was @ 9 years old. Have you heard of Dr. Patrick Carnes(  http://www.pinegrovetreatment.com/patrick-carnes.html ). I had the great pleasure to get to work with him and he told me that I had developed a certain Sexual Template as a result of the abuse. I volunteered and decided to take the MPA to help my obsession. Thank God my compulsions came under control and I never got out of control or did anything illegal.

The trauma i had suffered was dealt with over many years and still is to a certain extent. Dr. Besel A. Vander Kolk  was the chief architect in that field of my recovery, along with SNAP.

Thanks much for your time and advice.

First consult with your Psychiatrist. Why on earth would you take a combination of so many drugs for just bipolar disorder? These drugs are messing up with your libido for sure and can contribute to obesity as well. If you re having more serious coexisting  psychiatric conditions OK but it all looks too MUCH. Talk with him to change regimen and then talk to an ENDOCRINOLOGIST. He can order appropriate blood test to check on your hormones. Maybe you re a good candidate for Testosterone Replacement Therapy although many other options are available. And last but not least why did you take 7 years of MPA anyway?
