Menstrual Cycle Problems

I am 18 years old. Ever since I was 12 (when I first started my period) I have experienced extremely painful urination right before and during my period. it. Once my period ends the pain goes away, so I never really thought much of it. However, it seems like the pain is getting worse now. I also have heavy bleeding and very painful cramping before and during my period. Also, after my period it becomes painful to have sex. I know I don't have an STD due to the fact that I have had only one partner who gets regularly tested. I was just wondering if these symptoms seem abnormal or if they are worth going to the doctor with. My current doctor already doesn't seem to take me very seriously because of my age, so I don't really want to go unless it's something to be concerned about. Also I was wondering if anyone else has experienced these symptoms?

Hi, type to visit your gyne, you might have a urinary tract infection or yeast infection, which is quite common, but until you get yourself checked and evaluated by a professional, I would abstain from sexual intercourse to avoid transmitting a possible infection to your partner. Usually, when you urinate and you experience pain, it could be just a mild infection. Antibotics will take care of it. Good luck. Judy

While I am not female and that whole cycle thing is kind of like greek to me.  I can say this.

Heavy bleeding is not a good thing.  Have you been checked for things like maybe PCOS?  I know that may be a strech but something to be looked at.

As for your doctor.  You show on your profile you are 18 years old.  I would be finding a new doctor.  Regardless of age your doctor should ALWAYS take you seriously.  OBGYN's are usually easy to find in large cities and going off your profile Pensacola should have plenty of them running around.  I would advise finding someone new.  Speak to your GP if you need to about getting an idea of a better one.
