hi, recently i have been suffering from what i believe is thrush, the pain only occurs at night and has been going on for a couple of days now. i have not yet taken medication and have no reason to belive it is an std but once 2 years ago i participated in unsafe sex and luckily wasnt pregnant, i was to scared to have a full check up so i only had a chlamidia test which came back negative. since then, 2 years ago i have never had unsafe sex and to this day use both the pill and condoms. is it possible i have an std? and am i suffering from thrush?

Hi:) If u are experiencing whitish, velvety lesions in the mouth and on the tongue and if underneath the whitish material, there is red tissue that bleeds easily, then u are suffering from thrush. To my knowledge it is not considered an std. It's caused by forms of a fungus called Candida. A small amount of this fungus lives in your mouth most of the time. It is usually kept in check by your immune system. When your immune system is weaker, the fungus can grow, into sores in your mouth and on your tongue. It's also commonly seen in infants. Are u sure that's what u have?
