sore bumps and itchiness on vagina

i had noticed that my outer part of my vagina is a little swollen and there is 2-3 bumps that looks like small holes, or almost like a canker sore, on my outer vagina the "flap" part. i was fine a few days ago but this morning it was itchy and i feel a little pain. i dont know if it was because i didnt clean it well when i was on my period (my last day on my period) or was it because it was rubbing against the pads or whatever. the last time i received oral and had sex was a week ago and that was my first time having sex. so i don't know what these bumps are and it's scaring me! hope to hear back from you soon thank you!

Yes, you should make an appointment and see your doctor.

Itching and soreness with or without a white discharge is indicative of a fungal infection called Thrush.  The sore spot may be part of the fungal infection or an infected hair follicle or a sebaceous cyst.

Your doctor may decide to give you an examination and may take a swab if he feels this is required to identify the bacteria or fungus that is causing the problem.

For a bacterial infection the doctor can prescribe an antibiotic.
If your condition is confirmed as being Thrush the doctor may prescribe a fungal cream specifically for use on the genital area.  He may also prescribe instead a one dose oral capsule called Fluconazole that will clear up any fungal infections.  Creams to treat fungal infections on the genitals can be purchased without a prescription and Fluconazole too can be purchased from the pharmacy without a prescription.

At home do not use soaps as they dry and irritate the area more.  Use a non perfumed soap or one that is kind and gentle on the skin.
Do not use shower gels or bubble baths as this too can aggravate the area and make it more itchy.

As a home remedy to help alleviate the soreness and itching you can apply natural set yogurt to your washed and gently dried area.  Yogurt also helps to reduce the inflammation.

Don't wear tight trousers and tights.  Only wear cotton underwear and eat a healthy and well balanced diet with fresh fruit and vegetables and drink water throughout the day.  About 2 litres should be fine.  Don't overdo the water drinking as having too much can be just as dangerous as getting dehydrated.  If your urine is clear and dark, you are not drinking enough.
It should be the colour of straw and clear.

Cut down sugary and very refined foods and fizzy drinks.  Having a diet that is high in sugar or not controlling blood sugar levels when someone has diabetes can encourage yeast growth.  Being on antibiotics can also encourage yeast growth.

The sooner you see the doctor, the sooner you can get sorted out.

Best wishes.

I think it might be a good idea to see your Dr about this. I wish I could tell you what was going on for sure. Yes, it could be irritation. Only your Dr can say for sure.
