could this be melanoma on my foot?

i'm a 40 year old woman, light skin and many, mostly small moles. i noticed a new freckle on the edge of my heel on my left foot a few years ago and just recently it's changed.. looks like a darker mole is growing at the end and on top of it. it's quite small, but it keeps catching my eye since it's gotten darker and is a definite change. a bit lower is a darker patch on my skin. don't know if it's an age spot or something to be concerned about.

thanks so much!

Yes Please let us know what you find out. I just looked at the picture of the spot on your foot and that is similar to what the spot on my back looked like. Mine turned out to be a basal cell carcinoma, something I'd rather have than a melanoma. BUT I am not a doctor so I wouldn't know - this is just my own results.

Please let us know the biopsy results.  I'm glad you had it ck'd.  I've read that these moles can occur inbetween the toes, too, so always when you do a self-check, look inbetween and behind the ears.  C~

the doctor finally saw this today and decided to remove it using a punch thing. there are now stitches where the little mole was. he said that moles on hands and feet (esp new moles) are a little more unusual and should be checked out. i'll find out whether or not this is melanoma in 2 wks.

thanks for responding. i've made an appt for the 30th of this month to have it looked at. it's  not raised but does look different than all my other moles. i hope the doc takes it off because i'm sure i'll be worrying if he doesn't. i'll come back after the appt  and post what happens. thanks again :-)

If it changes, it's worth getting a look at. Darker and raised, and a change in shape is what to look out for. It's more than likely nothing, but it's very easy and painless to get it looked at, so better safe than sorry.
