worried about change in mole

I have this  sorta flat, pinkish mole on my chest. I have had it for years and its never changed. last fall I noticed that it developed a dark black spot in it. Almost like a pen point dot. My mom told me not to worry about it so i didnt. Im thinking I shouldnt have listend to her.. should I be really concerned about this? I made an appointment to have it looked at but it wont be for another 4 weeks.. is this something I should try to push to have looked at sooner? I am fair skinned, and have a lot of freckles. I do tan but not as quickly as other people. I added a picture of the mole in question. Please let me know what you think.

I would see a doctor sooner if you can. It is probably nothing but any change in a mole esp.getting darker areas like you mention should be examined.
