sleep disorder

Sir
For last one week, I am suffering because of heavyness in lungs, cold and cough, inability to breathe properly, unable to get sleep, lot of running nose and mucous, heavy upper back pain. In addition heavy itching sensation all over the body. During the first part of the week, I had fever too.

I was a regular smoker for the last thirty years. I have left smoking since November 16, 2008. I work in my room and office both of which have huge collection of  old books, computer, stationery and clothes etc.
While the above problem recurs once in two or three months, I have general sleeping disorder

I wish to add that i get sleep during odd hours specially when I am sitting in a seminar. I sleep and snore there. But during night, I can't sleep properly. If I lie flat, I will feel quite uneasy. So I attemt to sleep in the sitting posture with 5 to 6  pillows behind my back arranged in a slanted manner.

I went to Yoga for sometime. I found it solved my problem but then it went to the other extreme. I started sleeping for more than 15 hours a day. All through the day and night I was sleeping. For last one wek I am unable to attend yoga because of my ill health. Kindly help me

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
I sounds like you have either allergies or a cold. If it doesn't improve within a few more days, you should see your doctor. You should also take care of your possible allergy problem.

As for your sleep problem, there's a good chance that you may have obstructive sleep apnea. Allergies can only aggravate this condition. You should talk to your doctor about this as well.

Thanks Doctor
I consulted a Doctor in our city  who prescribed me the following tests.
1. Chest X-ray
2. Random blood sugar
3. ECG
I got them done and the results indicated that
1. X-ray is normal
2. 118 mg
3. ECG is normal.
I am feeling better now after two days of antibiotics, salbutanol, changed hypertension tablets. Every three or months I go through this cycle.

May I know
1. How to know what specific allergy I have and what is causing it?
2. More about obstructive sleep apnea.
Thanks again
