I just had a heart monitor put on today at 2:30pm. I will let you know how it turns out because last night I woke up at about 2:30am. with palps and I wasn't having any dreams ot anything. I have a new CPAP mask and it was not leaking. I may need the pressure changed. The palps were not that bad and went away very quickly but it was enough to make me lose an hours sleep.
I have an Echocardiogram also tomorrow to rule out Mitral Valve Prolapse as the cause of the problem, but I think my doctor is right on the sleep issue also. If you look at my sleep tracker you will see that I couldn't sleep well for the last few days and it started again. I had one night that I slept ten hours over the weekend and I felt fine.
Sleep deprivation can cause so many other problems.
Thank you for the responses. I think that this is my problem. At first ER doctors told me my PVCs are probably from my inhaler, but my regular doctor didn't buy that.
Some days I feel good, other days I feel bad. This could easily be because of my sleep. Even when I don't have any/many PVCs, some days I just feel icky. Kateyes mentioned stress hormones because of apneas, and this really sounds like me.
As KatEyes said the answer is Yes and Yes.
Last Monday I was taken to the ER by ambulance because this happened to me and it never happened before. I do use a CPAP but my mask had begun to leak. On top of that I have not been sleeping well due to pain issues.
After a full workup it was determined that my palpatations were brought on by sleep deprivation. You should get yourself a CPAP if you don't have one. Talk to your doctor about prescrbing one for you. It will save you life.
Good Luck.
1. Yes. Was one of my symptoms. Happens when the blocked airway prevents oxygen from getting into the lungs so the heart frantically tries to compensate, not to mention the stress hormones that are released with each apnea.
2. Used to have PVCs seen on a holter monitor and on my first sleep study. Haven't noticed them in years, nor have they shown up on repeated more recent sleep studies. Have used cpap for 3 years.
