I think all a sleep study will do is record what you already know... you are in full REM sleep and you conscious mind begins to react, your dream is no longer just in you mind.
I assume you are not sleeping with anyone, I say this because if I have even a leg twitch my wife moves to the guest bedroom.
I think it would be wise to move furniture or anything else you may land on if you fall/jump out of bed while asleep. You may want to get a small mattress or two to lay them on the floor beside your bed when you are sleeping, you could shove them under the bed when you are awake.
Dave, if you have not done it yet, go get a sleep study done. You will be recorded while you sleep and your brain activity will also be monitored. The doctor will go over everything with you and will also be able to recommend other avenues to check out.
