I am seriously considering throwing the Seroquel into the trash. I am so sick of it. I take this for sleep and it is by far the best drug for that purpose but I eat eat eat, like I haven't eaten all day after I take this. Today I had the bottle in my hand and I was going to toss it... I have other things that I can take to help me sleep but this works the best. I WANT to QUIT taking it. I try other things but but I keep GOING BACK because it works! Sick of it.

I have been off Seroquel for 18 days. I am presently taking 1.5-2mg clonazepam, 200mg trazodone, 30 mg temazepam (very weak drug IMO), and 50 mg doxylamine (Unisom). Psych upped the temazepam and I upped the clonazepam ;+)

I was reading about xyrem last night at xyrem.com. Is it VERY hard to get a psychiatrist to prescribe it? I read elsewhere that it is also very expensive and there is at present just the one manufacturer. Why are you prescribed xyrem and what kind of doc dispenses it? The website says that it is GHB.

maybe i'll have to try those.  i take xyrem.  It throws me for one heck of a loop i feel so stoned when i'm on it its the same as GHB.  But i still cant sleep.  I have such a hard time but then i'm tired all day.  i need something that will make me sleep.  I think i need some heavy meds that will wORK!!!!

I have been off Seroquel for 4 nights now. I was on Seroquel for about a year and a half and I have to say all that it ever did for me was help me sleep but I was only on 100mg-150mg at bedtime + trazodone 200mg., I have depression also but I think that the dose for depression is higher than 150mg. Maybe that is why it never helped with my depression?

The best med that I have ever taken for sleep is triazolam (Halcion) .25mg @ bedtime. Ambien works for about a few weeks then I need to take a break from it before it will work again. Right now I am taking temazepam 30mg + trazodone 200mg + clonazepam 1.5mg @ bedtime. That just goes to show how sedating Seroquel is! I find that it is easier to wake up in the morning and I don't oversleep as I did with the Seroquel.

Ya! I also know the feeling..I take only half a pill, it will let me sleep, but makes me  really sleepy and feeling ( I don't give a s*** attitude) blah and not wanting to do anything all day. Just started this med 2 weeks ago-  but weight gain is not going to help with my depression issues.. : Is the cure better than the ail ?:

I feel your pain! I eat alot on it too. But mentally feel alot better. Which is the lesser of two evil's...

If you want the benefits you must accept the unwanted side effects.All drugs have them, Thank your lucky stars that you've found something that works. Have you tried Zopiclone? See your prescriber & find out if you can try it. It works for me, but it does have side........! If you manage to find one that works & you are happy with it please let me know. Best wishes.
