Unawareness, deep sleep problem

Hi all I'm a 24 years old male with a healthy body but am having some issue regarding sleep.

I'm usually am late sleeper and hardly go to sleep before 3-4a.m or even the morning.. And would be sleeping up to 10-12 hours..

But in the past month due to the new job I have to sleep earlier like 10-11pm and up 5:30 in the morning. And now I'm getting used to it I don't have any trouble sleeping and waking but!!

The issue I'm facing now is that today I was in a totally deep sleep like coma and I couldn't hear the alarm, nor my phone ringing (I got 8 missed calls from my work) until I suddenly woke up by myself, yet I went to bed 10:30pm yesterday night..

This happened several times before and I'm totally in coma without dreams nor awareness.. I went to the doctor but they didn't find anything wrong with me..

So am here looking for some insight if anyone know what it is about. If it continues it would affect my working life, especially when I myself hate creating troubles for the others and my co-workers like this (late for 2 hours.. For the second time..). I'm working as security and this issue is non-acceptable..

Hello and hope you are doing well.

This can happen if there is a sleep debt and you need to catch up with lost sleep. It could also be because of the shift in your timings. This should settle with time. But if it persists, you may need to consult your doctor to rule out sleep disorders like Narcolepsy, which cause excessive sleepiness, though unlikely.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Some of this may be your age.  You know how many hours your body is demanding, so if you expect to wake up on time, be sure you are going to bed early enough.  On top of it your diet may be causing lethargy.  Get on a program where you eat lean meat and fish, fruits and vegetables and not fast food and fatty meals.  Avoid fried food and large quantities of bread.  You need more fiber in your diet.  Get Metamucil tablets and work up to 4 or 5 tablets at night.  Then your body will wake you up to go to the bathroom every morning and you won't feel sluggish.
