Hello and hope you are doing well.
Understand your concern. As suggested sleep aids can help to temporarily tide over insomnia. Also, anxiety can cause lack of sleep. You should stop becoming anxious and try to relax. Try to have a warm bath before sleeping. Have a glass of milk or read a book before trying to sleep. Don’t watch TV or do exercise before sleeping. Condition yourself that you can relax and that you can sleep well. Maintain warm, comfortable bedroom environment and engage in relaxing activities like a warm bath before bed time. If problem persist consult your primary care physician to rule out sleep disorders.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Have you looked into either natural or medical sleeping aids, just for a few nights to get your sleeping rhythm back on track?
Also there is a good sleep tracker on this website, so you can keep an eye on your sleeping habits
Melatonin is something that works for a lot of people, it is a natural occurring chemical which when it is dark, it produced in the brain and is the chemical that helps produce and induce sleep, but some people don't produce enough so need more in a supplement form.
Also mediation can be good for relaxing the brain and inducing sleep.
Might be a good idea to see a doctor or a alternative doctor to see what may help you.
Hope this helps
You are not unique in this respect. After a lifetime of insomnia I'm still functioning OK in spite of it. Perhaps that's all you need. When you are really tired it's usual to sleep, but I've run marathons etc etc & was still unable to sleep. The trick is to find a way of not worrying about it. Much easier said than done, but it is possible. It's not the sleep loss that seems to cause damage, but the worrying about not being able to sleep. I wake after about 4~5 hrs of disturbed sleep, get up, make tea, read/think or whatever & return to bed an hour or so later, then I can sleep for another couple of hours. If you don't know why you sleep less, perhaps a word with your Doc.may help. They love prescribing every kind of medication, but at least you don't have to take them untiil you decide you need them, ~Good lLuck
