Daily Night terrors

Hi, I am an 18 anemic and hypoglycemic woman. Since as long as I can remember I have had almost daily nightmares that make most people wince. Usually involving bodies being stripped of all their tissue or being crushed and/ or maimed in some way. They usually involve me running and people dying around me. They are usually horror film worth and can be quite gruesome.

I have a lot of stress related problems, sleep paralysis, panic attacks, migraines, cluster headaches so on and so forth.

Is this a sleep disorder?

Hi,

I would suggest you to consult a sleep specialist and undergo sleep study as soon as you can. Meanwhile avoid any kind of excitement around sleep time. You can read a book or listen to music around bedtime. Take care!

Hi,

I understand what you are going through - am a 23 year old woman with the same problems. I have been in and out of doctors offices since I was six years old - and, unfortunately, i still havent found anything that works.I've even visited psychics and energy healers to try and find out what was wrong with me (my grandmother was part Roma, part American Indian, and practiced tarot and earth religion, so that isn't quite as strange as it may seem!)

The good news? You can have a pretty normal life. Im an ivy league law student, and, though it can be hard to concentrate, im making it through. Here are some things that have helped me, though, as you will see in my post, nothing has been permanent. I take anti-anxiety meds as well, but i find alternative practices to be far more helpful

Meditation: Right before bed, clean your bath tub, then fill it with water and a good smelling bath crystal. Dim the lights, and light a candle. Get into the bath, and practice breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this for at least 8 minutes, while visualizing all of the negative energy leaving your body - out of your fingers and toes, and poitive energy coming in. When you are ready to get out, hold you last breath until you have begun to drain and stepped out of the tub, then release. This helps calm me down after really bad nightmares.

Prayer: to a higher power, to God, to the Universe...whoever you believe in. take five minutes to pray, outloud, about your day and ask for blessing

Try switching from coffee to tea (i havent done this successfully) and verse yourself in what different herbs do to help relaxation...

Good luck, and God Bless!

Hi, i feel you have had witnessed or had gone through a bad trauma either physically or mentally sometimes in your childhood, if not the stress that you are undergoing presently coupled with a long hard day does make you feel too tired at nights which may be causing you the sleep disturbance and nightmares. take restyl tablet at night and have warm bath before going to sleep, do regular causual exercise and listen to soft music at bed time. you have to spend more time with your family and close friends to keep away from stress.
