numbess in arms and hands

Lately, I'm been having numbess in my arms and hands that is so bad, I can't move my arm or hands, like to turn off the alarm clock. Sometimes it is in both and sometimes only one. I'm also having very bad "restless legs".  I'm 49, with high blood pressure and take 1 40/20 benicar every morning.
I know this make sure funny but about a year ago we got a new tempur-pedic mattress and all these problems started... Any suggestions?

Hi, yes it is better to get checked from a neurophysician as could be due to neurovascular disturbance. your mattress and way you sleep also can matter. A through examination may do. Pls update your visits. Take care. Bye.

Hello,
I am have been having the same problems while sleeping at night. My hands, arms, and feet have a tendency to go numb while sleeping. I havent change anything about my routine... I am only 19 and have no health problems. The numbness wakes me up two or three times a night or when I wake up I cant even feel my hands to turn off the alarm or walk into the bathroom. It has been going on for about two or three weeks now and I am not sure what it can be from....should I got to the doctor? THanks

Hi, you need to be more careful in controlling you hypertension and also have a check on yout blood glucose levels. Your weakness in muscles warns for more investigation and complete evaluation by a neurophysician. Is numbness worsening? try to sleep on hard surface and have some massages once or twice a week. A warm hot bath at bed time can be soothing. Take care, bye.

Hello.

Well, I would not say it's funny. It actually can be the reason why you are having these problems. I am no mattress expert (!), but I just read on this link ..

http://www.guide4home.com/dec-bf/tempurpedic.htm

And under the disadvantages, it is written..." ......You may also find that it's harder to move about in bed, as the memory foam creates a comfortable niche for your body. Some people find that they're stiff in the morning from having slept in the same position all night.".

Had it not been for the mattress, I would have asked you if you sleep in an awkward position. But I think this question is not necessary now.

The best way to find out is change back to your old mattress. This is as far as the numbness is concerned.

The restless legs can develop independent of the situation. Researches have found a link between restless legs syndrome and hypertension.

Regards
