Hello,
According to a study, babies born to women with obstructive sleep apnea were more likely to be admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit than babies born to women without the condition. Also women with sleep apnea were more likely to develop preeclampsia, a condition of high blood pressure during pregnancy.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Sorry you haven't gotten a reply from someone who really knows... so I'll offer what I think.
Oxygen is very important to both you and your baby. If you sleep doctor has prescribed a CPAP mask while sleeping I think it is essential you do so. You now have two lives to take care of, do take risks.
I have mild obstructive sleep apnea and was able to get by without a CPAP by losing some weight, which opened my throat a small amount and enough I think to make the mask unnecessary. Keep in mine I am an old guy, so the only life I am taking risks with is mine. That said, I plan to take an overnight recording oximeter test to see if the weight loss has in fact removed the obstruction.
If I read correctly you had surgery to remove obstructions, but your doctor is still prescribing a CPAP, again it is extra important that you follow all medical advice when pregnant.
I wish you a healthy baby and happy life for all.
