You certainly could have depression (and/or possibly anxiety) which are common co-morbid diseases with insomnia (which is what you describe).
A Harvard study in 2004 demonstrated medications are not the best treatment for insomnia, but rather Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is better. CBTi is safe in the long term, is less expensive, has no side effects, and treats insomnia at the root cause instead of just trying to "knock someone out" like medications do. If you go see a sleep doctor in person, CBTi is what they will recommend. Alternatively, online programs have been found to be equally effective and less expensive.
Rest well!
Hello and hope you are doing well.
You should stop becoming anxious about sleep as this becomes a vicious cycle and you may face problems falling asleep. You should stop becoming anxious and try to relax. Try to have a warm bath before sleeping. Have a glass of milk or read a book before trying to sleep. Don’t watch TV or do exercise before sleeping. Condition yourself that you can relax and that you can sleep well.
Also, do exercise in the daytime this promotes good sleep.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
