sleep problems

I have Parkinsons and sleep from about 11pm to 2 am and am unable to get back to sleep.     I did try xanax about  for four days in a row. I woke at 2 a.m., took  a .25mg each time and it put me back to sleep from 3 to 7. Worked perfect but I hear they're addictive.   Klonopin is also in the benzo class and I worry it may be too strong. Trazodone is an anti-depressent and I've read scary stuff regarding that.  Ambien sounds strong also and I read it makes you do some incredible and possibly dangerous things in your sleep. I do have a couple  sample pills of both ambien and trazodone. Is there any harm in trying one for two days, wait a day and try the other the next two nights just to see what works best?. Would one  .25 mg. of xanax taken every other day, or even every night at say 2 a.m. be habit forming  should I go that route?
                                                            Thanks

Your neurologist might suggest milder sleep aids.  I take one 200mg tablet of generic ibuprofen or one to two Extended release acetaminophen if I have problems sleeping.  Just lying still and slowly breathing in and out 5 times can put me back to sleep.  Sometimes I imagine I'm on a inflatable raft in a warm water inlet rocking back and forth with the imaginary waves.  That helped when I was working nights and sleeping days.

Please be careful of prescription sedative medicines.

Sometimes changes in brain activity won't bring sleep.  If I'm really wired, I get up and move to a chair for an hour to read and then go back to bed.

You might consult with your neurologist about a referral for a sleep lab study.
