sleep

I'm a 60 year male with some sleep issues. At night when i go to bed i usually feel pretty good, watch a little tv then go to sleep. The last few days i seem to wake up around 4 o'clock to go to the bathroom, but when i get back in bed i can't fall asleep.I just lay there and i get this nervous feeling through my body. From there i just toss and turn till around 8 am. After i get up and move around i usually feel pretty good. But that shakey feeling is awfull. I also had open heart surgery 2 years ago, don't drink or smoke and don't eat alot of junk before bedtime. Thanks

If this shakiness is only at night, I doubt it is blood sugar, but it wouldn't hurt to have a monitor on hand to check it while you have that feeling. Same with thyroid issues - it would likely happen during the day also. Those are 2 common causes of feeling shaky. If these wakenings are accompanied by a fast pulse, you may want to see if you could possibly have sleep apnea, which can stress the heart and shoot stress hormones into the body.

Just because of your history, I do hope you are keeping your docotrs informed of every symptom you experience. It may mean something to them that a casual reader wouldn't be tuned in to. Best wishes.
