questions

Hello. I have a couple of questions that have never been satisfactorily been answered. I was brought up as a Baptist, and as such my leanings have always been towards Christianity. But as a result, I have always sought more knowledge and understanding, which has led me to these questions. First of all, what happens to people who die without being exposed to traditional judeo- Christian beliefs? Or those that die in early childhood that are incapable of understanding the idea of being saved? Are they sent to a place of eternal torment? Secondly, say you have a guy who loses his wife to cancer. Even though he loved her dearly, he marries another woman whom he is equally fond of. In time the man and his 2nd. Wife die, and they join the 1st wife in heaven. Common sense would dictate that one of the wives is going to be hurt, or the man will have two wives. If the former is the case, the wife who is left out will be deeply hurt, but heaven is a place of eternal happiness and free of pain. Even if the man keeps both women, there would likely be some negative emotion- I surely wouldn't want to have to share the love of my life with another. The only rationale I've been able to come up with is that there are things spiritual that as humans we can not comprehend, like infinity of space and time. I also have studied the amazingly similar stories of those who have had near death experiences, including "bad" believers and "good" atheists. The majority of all of them speak of incomprehensible feelings of love and serenity, and upon their return no longer fear death, and experience profound changes in their lives for the good. Anyhoo, I welcome all opinions as I find the discussions here to be both honest and enlightening. Best wishes to all, GM-

No body, an empty tomb, the rock had been rolled away, is part of the key evidence - He rose. He lives.

And I thank God that the "Good News" is not just for Christians. The Good News is for the World - God so loved the "WORLD" that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believes in HIm, shall not perish, but have everlasting Life.

Yes it good news for everyone. And I have to thank God for the Jewish people that gave us the Gospel because without the Jews sharing the gospel we would not have known the "Good News."

In regards to those not having heard the gospel message, there have been a number of answers that I have heard over the years. I want to preface it by saying that ---- It boils down to ...what do you believe?  I realize that in the end----we will find out.

From what I have heard, if a child dies before the age of accountability (being able to understand actions/consequences) he/she would go to heaven. There have been debates about when that age is...13, 15, 18, 21????

I have also heard people use the NT where it says essentially that the earth reveals God's glory and that man is without excuse.

Now...I have had similar questions too as not many people want to believe that those who don't know, haven't heard the gospel would be condemned without a fair trial.  There are many variables and I am sure I don't see them all....lol.  One is that some people may try to claim "ignorance", but when their whole life is seen through the "all seeing" One who would know every second, would reveal that attempts to share the truth were scorned, ignored, turned away from, outright rejected, etc.

On a personal level, I have lived long enough to know that there are times I have "looked the other way" and promptly forgotten moments......  I would wager that most people cannot recall every second of their life and because our focus was on self, others, etc....missed opportunities whereas someone may have tried to reach us.

My understanding is that God will have tried in many ways to reach us each.  Like an appointment, are we in the right place at the right time with the right person doing the right thing????

I don't know all the reasons we each choose the path we do.  There is something in a majority of us that wants to share with others what we believe to be the Good News!!!  The Good news for Christians is that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting Life.

Where the trouble is, we don't understand how this can be.  We have more reasons for the impossibility of this being true than not true.  It simply cannot be proved.  There is no body, no movie or tape recording of the event.  Just "changed lives".  People willing to die for their faith. Once having been touched by God's love, they are never the same.

All great questions and im sure as you know the answer will depend all the people's belief. I dont have any in depth bibical knowlege so i dont have quotes to share for you. (i wish i did :( ) Buti will gladly tell you what i believe and was once thought to me.

The Jehovah witness's say that those who dont learn of god and the children who are not wise egough to understand will be shown the light and forgiven for there ways. Also side note the parent of the child if they knew of the truth then they would hold the sin of not showing there kids to the light.

LOL of course i dont believe in this. But its a side of the views. MY personal feeling is as long as they did right they will be rewarded so it doesnt matter. but thats just me.

Well vows say "till death do we part" thus in my mind this would give the mind that we separate from such things. But on to other things. If we are reborn over and over again until the end of this world and the start of a new. If this is true we would of had many lovers and thus we would all love many people. It would only be logical that we would all just love each other and although those memories would be there perhaps we would ......Blah this goes beyound me. These are good questions with a million different answers.

As for understanding. lets use science. Science is contently changing and what was once determined to be this way gets changed. So What we decide we "Know" is always changing and in all truth is never fully right.

:-))  Good questions (there is a biblical analysis group that these would be great in)...however, I will take one of the questions for now as I must hit the hay soon to be up early to work.

I am pasting in the verse that I think is similar to the marriage one you asked with the man with 2 wives that I remember from reading in the NT that Jesus answered:

Luke 20:27-44

[27] Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question. [28] "Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. [29] Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless. [30] The second [31] and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children. [32] Finally, the woman died too. [33] Now then, at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?"

[34] Jesus replied, "The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. [35] But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, [36] and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection. [37] But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' [38] He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive."

[39] Some of the teachers of the law responded, "Well said, teacher!" [40] And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Based on that answer, I would say that there will be no marriage, people will understand differently than now as they will be changed.

Anyone else is more than welcome to voice/share their views on this.  I will return tomorrow to discuss the other questions.

:-),
D.
