Danger

How does a christian understand natural calamities?

How do we answer the question "why do bad things happen?" and "why are there so many disasters?" ?

How does being a christian help in going through these disasters?

There is a time to laugh and to cry, a time to be born and a time to die. I realize that I have no control over the natural disasters of the world so do not worry too much about them. If it is my time,  it is my time. But if I survive I believe it is my responsibility to help others survive as well. It was foretold these things would happen and is a sign of the times. It doesnt make them pleasant but at the same time, not shocking either. I personally believe that God is a loving God but an angry one as well. It is a wake up call to humanity in my opinion.

God is always in control - he knows the troubles in our hearts witnessing all these terrible things going on, and I have total confidence that they are going to get much much worse!!  The wrath of God is beginning to be poured on the planet,  see Matthew 24.7  Woe to them who have no Rock to cling to in these troubled times!

He is coming!

Bad things happen because we live in a fallen world. This is not our true home. Our true home is heaven. Until then,  we live in a world where we will experience sorrow, evil, pain, hardships. All these things are allowed in our lives to draw us closer to God, to strengthen our faith, to teach us compassion. To help us appreciate the good, to appreciate God.

I do believe we are to help each other in all hard times. We were never meant to live alone or be alone. We should walk beside each other and encourage each other, pray for each other and help each other. The bible says faith without works is dead. We have to have action with our faith, that means helping each other as much as we can. The bible says if we see someone who is cold or hungry we are not to send them away and wish them well. we are to see to their physical needs. God shows great concern for the poor in the bible and says we will be rewarded for every cup of water we offer, every time we visit someone in prison, every time we feed the hungry. But we should not be doing it for rewards, but because we should care for the same things God cares about and that's His people, His creation.
