a lot kinder than Christians
-------------------------
should have said - a lot kinder than "some" Christians have been to 'some' people.:)
And so a "love for the lost," for those that don't know, what that would mean is for those that haven't received Jesus as their Messiah. That is who Jesus considers lost, so then those that call themselves Christians have to be willing to "lay down their life" for Christ. In some countries that means that for sharing the Gospel you may be killed or tortured AND many are going thru that in other countries as I type this.
But thus far in this great country of America we are still able to share the Gospel. So how would "laying down our life - having a love for the lost" apply to us? Well to me it means that when we share the Gospel with those that don't know Jesus - such as those from another religion, and that would include a friend or family member, we have to have such a LOVE for THEM that we should NOT put our fear of rejection or losing that friendship ahead of the concern of where they will spend eternity, IF we do not give them the Gospel as Jesus has told us to do.
That to me is having love for the lost - its not just my opinion but it is scriptual too.
Loving people by being kind is nice, but being nice to people alone will not always lead them to the cross because I have met people who are NOT Christians who sometimes are a lot kinder than Christians - including Atheists, Buddhists, Hindus. But the road is narrow and yes that sounds offensive, and sounds not inclusive,,,but Jesus died for the Sins of the WORLD, so He did include "everyone." It is a VERY inclusive message - the Gospel, for those that have ears to hear.
:-))) Agreed ---thank you for sharing :-)))
